Wendy taking tractor driving lessons; I think we took this in the early 70s.
I remember we borrowed the outfit from the long gone Jon and Jayne boutique in Cheap Street.

Ice Cream

Anita, who owns Lambretta Hotel and bar in Bath, has a Lambretta painted like an ice cream van.
It even has ice cream van style air horns; here are a couple of the beautifully painted details on the engine covers.

Chocolate Cake

Nicky's friend Katie had a birthday today; this is the cake that Nicky made for her.
For those who been lucky enough to try Nicky's famous brownies will understand, what this over the top chocolate cake tasted like.

Padstow May Day

Now is the time to plan a trip to Padstow it's famous for the May Day celebrations and hobby horse.
I remember when I was young we were staying near Newquay in a caravan, Dad asked the milkman what time the celebrations started, it was about 9am and the milkman said "they will all be drunk by now".
We visited again in the 80s and these pictures were taken with a Pentax 6x7.
This strange looking creature made of a black tarpaulin over a circular frame with a man in a fearsome mask and pointed hat cavorts through Padstow every May Day driven by the teaser. He is accompanied by accordion and drums and the Padstow May-day song.
Unite and unite and let us all unite,
For summer is i-cum-en today,
And whither we are going we all will unite,
In the merry morning of May
The 'Oss sinks to the ground and a slower song is sung with the following strange lyrics:

Oh where is St George, oh where is he Oh?
He's out in his long boat, all on the salt sea Oh.
Up flies the kite, down falls the lark Oh,
Aunt Ursula Birdhood she had an old yow,
and she died in her own park Oh.
He soon jumps up again and is off dancing through the streets.

Tabitha has been under the weather lately, and is sleeping for long periods.
We think it's the nasty flu bug the rest of the family have had over the last few months.

Horse in centre on Bath

This smug looking lad (Sam) is wearing spurs on boots.
We could call the R.S.P.C.A. before he hurts the horse (but it's 55 years too late).

Maybe the cow didn't jump over the moon.
But a trick of perspective makes it look as if these could jump over the church at Corston.

Shoestring

Trevor Eve in Abbey Churchyard with Liz Crowther (Daughter of Leslie) in the early 80s.
They were shooting an episode of Shoestring, the detective series based in the West Country.
I spotted it back on one of the satellite channels last week.
There is still an unofficial Shoestring site HERE.
