The British Telephone service is wonderful, but sometimes you look at the quality of British Telecom wiring.
And wonder why it works at all.

We had a trip to Warminster today, walking through the Corn Market I stopped to photograph this statue, when an elderly gentleman approached me.
He said, "It's the town symbol, a load old bags" I didn't stay long enough to check the female population out so can't possibly comment.

While stopped in a queue of traffic today, the car in front attracted my eye, I realised that it had television screens built into the headrests, the children were watching a cartoon.
Long gone are the days when I sat in the back-seat firing dried peas with a catapult at road signs.

Sam went for a walk with the Somerset Coal Canal Group on
Sunday and took this snap with Wendys little Canon A70
using the panorama facility.
This is a view of lock 19 one of the 22 locks at Rowley Bottom,
I can recommend the web site for SCC http://rtjhomepages.users.btopenworld.com/history.html
if you want to learn more about this spectacular
piece of industrial engineering from the 1800s.
Its the 200th anniversary of the canal opening this year.

Mrs Davis had a flower stall in Stall Street in the 60s, when she died her daughter, on the right of the picture wanted to take the stall on.
But I believe the council decided that they didn't want street traders and refused to transfer the licence.
They must be turning in their grave now, as you can't move for people selling everything from olives to roast pork.
If you look carefully you can see Macfisheries in the background, we had three fish shops in the centre then.

Heres our old shop in Abbey Churchyard, the display case to the right contains a Monkees pop magazine so that puts the date of the picture at about 1970.
If you look to the left you can see Mrs Allen's Umbrella shop where she sold and mended umbrellas, see we were into recycling even then.
