The true cost of smoking.

Health Promotion specialist Zoë Clifford shows the true cost of smoking.
The picture was taken in 2004 and rejected as it looked like we were burning real money.
No money was harmed during the making of this picture; it was Sam fiddling with Photoshop.

Bath Scum

Someone had a Lexsor 27inch flat panel LCD TV for Christmas, and rather than wait for the refuse collectors to call.
They brought all the packaging out to the wood on
Combe Hay Lane and dumped them.
Well what can you say about scum like that, a pox on your family and the next ten generations.

And I hope the new TV breaks down in the middle of your favourite programme and you can’t return it without the original box!

Terry Pratchett at Christmas

Another of my unpublished picture of Terry Pratchett, taken at a Christmas party for former C.E.G.B. employees a few years ago.
He's looking at someone's digital camera in the days when they cost more than three years fees at the Unseen University.

Terry Pratchett

Another of my unpublished Terry Pratchett Pictures, a few years ago we had an appeal to help fund a new children’s ward at the RUH.

The symbol was a teddy bear, so all the photographers carried a bear and stuck it in the hands of any famous people we photographed, mine met Jensen Button and Charles Kennedy.
When I was visiting Terry I thought, they don’t come much more famous than him, so snapped him with the bear wearing his famous hat.
No it’s not glued there his assistant Rob I behind him holding it, well the following year they decided not to publish more bear pictures, even though we had carried on taking them.
So this picture never saw the light of day.

Footpaths

We seem to be on a doggie theme at the moment, this lady is a footpaths officer in Wiltshire.
Part of her job is to measure the width of footpaths so she has trained her dog to hold the end of the tape-measure.

Happy ending for Bonnie

I was just taking my kit out of the car at nine forty-five tonight, when a cold, hungry and muddy dog walked into the house.
I called the number on her collar to find a tearful but happy owner, Bonnie went missing in Southstoke a 4 o’clock today.
And they were worried that something had happened to the 14-year old family pet.
She was collected in less than 15 minutes.

One Man and His Dog

I achieved a lifetime ambition tonight, appearing in the finals of the BBC's One Man and His Dog.
Unfortunately because I don't have a dog or any sheep and can't whistle it was just my left ear that appeared.
I was there to photograph a visit by Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, with presenters Ben Fogle and Shauna Lowry./

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan has been in the news lately after walking out on Steven Hendry in the UK Championship quarter-final.
Here's one my snaps of him at his demonstration at Keynsham Snooker Club on the 17th November.
He's just borrowed my Swiss Army knife to cut the kitchen film and sticky tape that covers his cue tip in transit.

Christmas Contest

Competition for the interdepartmental Christmas decoration contest is tight.
In the photographic department Clare made this model of our Christmas dinner using dishcloths, clay and cardboard.
The bottles were the only thing she bought; I’m on the right and see Becky is so pregnant she doesn’t fit under the table.

My contribution was to borrow this 5 foot high working snowstorm from Mike and Wendy at Funtastic.

Sparrows Crane

Some time ago I went to Berkeley Nuclear Power Station to photograph the largest mobile crane in the UK.
It took me a while to persuade them to take the front off for a crane driver's eye view.
