Stop Smoking

Looks like they chewed the sign in frustration instead.

I found these pics of Vancouver Aquarium in our files, and it reminded me of how much I wanted a giant sea lion and how Andy had to talk me out of it due to the fact he was as big as a shetland pony and a little bit whiffy. Posted by Picasa

We also saw these CUTE sea otters take it in turns to have a kip while the other one kept them afloat and stopped them drifting away. Posted by Picasa

Some interesting Norweigan graffiti - unless Banksy has been visiting Bergen.
Looks like a Banksy to me! Sam

The Bryggen (old harbour) at Bergen in Norway. Yes - the houses are lopsided. A munitions ship exploded in the harbour and made everything wonky but apparently not dangerously so. Posted by Picasa

I've been left in charge of the blog while Dad enjoys a holiday, so have been searching my photo's to see if anything I've taken would appeal to Dad's sense of the bizarre, so, here's something we spotted in Norway that I feel sure Dad would have snapped. Sorry the standard is not as high as usual, obviously his talent has not been passed on by genetics or osmosis.
An amusing "installation" outside of the National Gallery in Oslo - unless you happen to be French.Posted by Picasa

Ingram Wilcox

Don't forget to watch Who Wants to Be a Millionaire on ITV Saturday at 8.20 to see Ingram Wilcox a Bath civil servant get the million pound prize.
We have tried to get an updated picture at the paper (most of our pictures are about 20 years old).
But have had to make do with frame grabs from the show, because Ingram is said to have sold his story to a national paper.

Red High Heels

I spotted this at a Sunday football match, and had the thought that maybe they both belonged to the same person.
And then had this vision on a hells angel in the shoes.

Latest Spider News

The Spider that I photographed yesterday was released in the garden about 50 feet from the room in the house where it was found.

Tonight its back in the room, we checked it against the picture and are sure it’s the same one!

Concrete Boat

Question
The Sir Henry is a concrete boat in a small pool a long way from the sea at Morton in the Marsh.
What possible use can it be?
Answer
It's at the Fire Service College; a former air field where you can be trained to fight every possible sort of fire.
The Sir Henry is regularly set on fire to practice extinguishing dock fires; so are the blocks of flats, oil refineries, a railway engine, overturned tanker and even the Boeing 737 at the college.
The picture was taken when I toured the site 30 years ago as a Bath City Councillor.

Spiders

Isn't nature wonderful, Andy captured this little chap wandering around the house?
And I spotted the picture below when I went to check the horses this morning.

Busker

Bath is always full of buskers, when I spotted this chap today I wondered how much his USP (unique selling point the hat) increases his takings.

Strange car

Strange car, but a bit of research and you find it's a cricket team with members like England's Ashes winning Captain, Clare Connor, Sri Lankan legend Aravinda De Silva, Zimbabwe's 22-year old former captain Tatenda Taibu, one of the greatest characters of the game, England's Phil DeFreitas.
And one of the players Henry Olonga who was the first black cricketer to play for Zimbabwe was speaking at Monkton Combe Senior School.

Ingram Wilcox Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

I photographed Bath civil servant Ingram Wilcox in 1980 after he appeared on Mastermind.
He had won his heat with 'The Crusades 1095-1192' and took 'Mammals' in his semi-final - despite the remarkable breadth of this subject, he won. In the final he reverted to his original subject and lost to Fred Housego
.
According to ITV West he wins a million pounds on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire this Saturday.

Car Transporters

The local Hertz branch had a few deliveries of cars today.
It set me wondering is there a collective noun for car transporters?
A Transit of transporters, Have you any thoughts?

Porth near Newquay

Sam and Wendy about thirty eight years ago on the bridge that joins the island at Porth near Newquay to the mainland.
Look at the idiot holding the camera out on a pole over the sea (and it's his own camera)
Note the matching jumpers (better than shell suits I suppose?)

Heath Robinson

As David and Helen were leaving today with the Grandchildren a tractor that looked like a Heath Robinson creation arrived.
I said "BL&*%$ Hell what's that", Wendy said "it's a Swath Turner" when questioned she had seen one on the kids Tractor Ted Video.
Just when I though I was married to Genius!
